Shipping Clerk

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for preparing outgoing shipments and receiving incoming shipments. Their duties include organizing inventory for easy retrieval as new orders come in, reviewing incoming and outgoing shipment schedules to maintain productive operations and documenting damages to inventory. The Shipping Clerk is responsible for restocking parts on each crew vehicle each week. This role works closely with the Warehouse Manager and Operations Managers to ensure daily and weekly goals are met. In their downtime, this role also helps to build and repair small electrical components and assists with additional warehouse duties.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and process part orders, including receiving deliveries, registering them and distributing packages within the company
  • Help maintain the company warehouse through organizing, cleaning and cataloging items on a regular basis
  • Propose improvements to the current shipping and inventory system and implement new processes
  • Collaborate with Accounting and Warehouse to develop metrics for gauging inventory level needs and then maintaining those levels throughout the year
  • Properly order new parts avoiding excessive surplus, deficiencies or inefficiencies
  • Reimburse parts for local crews and ship parts to out of state crews weekly
  • Coordinate large shipments and plan logistics to ensure that there is sufficient storage space for incoming items
  • Keep log of parts shipped and received by preparing regular shipping and receiving reports for managers
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and transport companies
  • Trouble shoots shipping issues and customer concerns that arise and work to solve them
  • Maneuver pallets and packages around the warehouse and property by lifting items as necessary, operating forklifts and pallet jacks for large shipments
  • Ability to disassemble and reassemble small electrical components on a daily basis
  • Ability to utilize basic trouble shooting skills when testing electrical components

Requirements 

  • Proven shipping and warehouse experience
  • Experience in shipping logistics and best practices
  • Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives
  • Hands on experience with inventory management software and databases
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to multi-task with exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Forklift experience preferred
  • Ability to identify and use basic hand tools (screw driver, channel locks, pliers etc.)
  • Ability to identify and use basic power tools (drill, impact)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to maneuver 150 lbs (not lift)
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen, physical and background check
